my story.

Born in Scotland to a doctoral candidate from Ohio and his beautiful, tenacious wife, I’m the first of four girls who were eventually all raised back in the corn fields of Ohio.

I had many interests growing up. Books, travel, singing (especially show choir and musical theater), and art to name the top ones. After high school I studied Intercultural Communication in college but post college quickly learned that my heart wasn’t at a desk inputting data on spreadsheets. Although I will say, that first job taught me a lot about working in a company and being a valuable employee.

I married my husband, Grayson, in 2011 and we moved to Greenville, SC where we had our three boys, Tobias, Wellington, and Lachlan. While at home in the midst of diapers and snot (some of which was hard, but all of which was/is such a gift) my sister’s wedding’s provided a wonderful creative outlet. 2015 started my foray into the world of floral design and it’s become one of my life’s joys ever since.

My sister and I started our first company, Silver City Florists, in Greenville. It was such a sweet time, our clients were amazing and it ended much too quickly. The pandemic hit and my husband and I felt a desire for our boys especially to know and live closer to their grandparents (among other reasons). So we packed up our little blue house on Curtis Street, said a tearful goodbye to my sister and her little family, and in 2020 made the eight hour trip back to Cedarville, Ohio.

In February of 2021, The Village Petaler was born.

We, my husband and I, desire to know and serve our fellow villagers. Jesus has changed us in ways too numerous to write here (but ask me sometime) and he also motivates us! We love people and desperately hope that this flower shop is a place where our community can come and be welcomed. Whether you want a simple arrangement for a dinner table full of your families sweet faces, a special posey for a beloved friend or a hardworking office administrator, corsage for the school dance, an arch for your wedding ceremony, a small vase for a bedside table or a display for your mom’s casket,

we want to be present with you and we want to serve you.

This world, though it is broken, is full of beauty. Flowers are such a gift from the creator, their vibrant colors, creative shapes, luscious textures, and decadent smells truly brighten a space. But even more so than that, people are a gift. Let us serve you by creating unique floral creations for you and your loved ones everyday and those extra special days too.

And if you don’t happen to live right down the road, you are welcome here too! I’m so happy you found us. I would love to know how we can serve your needs. Don’t hesitate to reach out!
